Each fall when the North Idaho Fair comes around my family the "Lees"celebrate another year making Elephant Ears. The history of the booth we have at the fair is simple. My father and two of his buddies constructed a small trailer over 30 years ago to help the scouts in our ward have a fund raiser. The high priests of the ward manned it and it was a great way to buy tents and fund all the activities for our troop. After a while the fair allowed them to build a stationary "trailer" that has never left the site, and is much larger than the original. However, after several years, and because of certain rules, the troop could no longer benefit. So, the trailer and project went back to the 3 Old Timers. Their families have manned it ever since. Over the years two of the old timers have passed on to the Elephant Ear booth in the sky. The Lee family continues to run the booth each year with much help from all the kids, grand kids, and now, even great grand kids. The Lee family uses the funds to help our families missionaries. Currently we have Spike serving in the Brazil Manaus mission. The next one to go will be
Scotty Lee.
Steve and Tim are rolling, Blair Davis cooking, Jon Erickson is taking money, Mikin Morton putting them out the window, Landon Lybbert is putting on the sugar and cinnamon, Cherea Davis is serving drinks and draining ears, Jim Lee dropping them in the vat, Jacob Wallace helping whenever he can, Scott mixing and cutting on one of the 14 shifts.
