Monday Brynne called to tell me she had received her new wheat grinder she'd ordered off the Internet at my house the week before. She was excited to learn how to make bread. So, Aj invited her over for lessons . (Given by me, of course!) He then called Mikin and invited her to join us. After his physical therapy and chiropractic appointments we arrived home with Mikin there on the couch. She seemed to be sick and had thrown up earlier. We told her to stay so we could watch the kids as she suffered. Brynne joined us when Cade got up from his nap. I had to run to the store for my "secret ingredients"for my bread recipe while Brynne ground the wheat.(Sounds like chicken little?) As you can see from the pictures the day was a success. I "reminded" them of the days when I made 8-10 loaves every week and how the kids used to break the hot bread open and eat it with butter for dinner. They informed me that it never happened! Mikin lifted her dying head to reaffirm that yes, I had indeed made that bread. We finally came to the conclusion that I HAD done it for the Older family....the kids Cassie and above! Just like I used to sew and grow a big garden. How time flys. I really had forgotten how easy it is to make with the modern conveniences like a Bosch mixer and a wheat grinder.
How really blesse we are. I had Brynne get me a grinder too. One that I could do by hand if the electricity were out. Steve's commemt was, "It's nice you have a wheat grinder to grind wheat , but how are you going to cook it without an oven?"...my smart husband!

You'll have to repeat that class when I get up there! :) I heard Lizzy's been making a lot of her own bread too. Look at all you being so domestic! :) If you all have wheat grinders, that means I don't have to get one, right?! j/k. My mouth is watering just looking at the pictures!
ps... you need to add the weather here to your weather side-bar. :) It is going to be 69 tomorrow! And gas was $1.99 today!
You should have told him you'd cook with all his HOT AIR! kidding.
Makes me wanna bake bread. You're a great mom. Wish I was there for a lesson.
Gas is $1.99. What the heck! It's still like $2.80 here!
lucky on the gas prices. Good jot on the bread you guys. looks good!
Hey, I like all the family pictures on the sidebar of the blog! They look great! You have nice photos of everyone!! Great job on bread making! I love making bread...of course, I use machines. Can you imagine being a pioneer and kneading all your bread by hand...several times a week! Carpal tunnel! several
That bread looks so good! Next purchase: a solar oven, so you can make bread if your power goes out. My brother in Houston fed the neighborhood after Hurrican Ike, with food from his freezer cooked in his solar oven. He was without power for 16 days.
Thanks for teaching me mom! Can't wait to try it by myself...we'll see if it turns out as well. :)
